Announcing Sita's Gems Unearthing the Vastness of the Divine Feminine
Jai Maa Sadasya's,
Acharya Shunya ji recently announced some very exciting news about a project that she has been working on with other woman wisdom leasders! Please read her words below;
For the past many months, I’ve been immersed in a unique production called Sita’s Gems, a Sitayana of sorts—an audio retelling of Sita’s story unlike anything you’ve ever heard.
This hybrid audio production–part audiobook, part guided course–is a symphony orchestrated to open the doorways of your own heart, while serving to illuminate and integrate the multi-faceted nature of the feminine within us.
Sita’s Gems may both help dispel the doubts of those lovers of the Ramayana who have been so challenged by Sita’s treatment in the epic, and also be of interest to anyone who desires to integrate the multi-faceted nature of the feminine within us all.
Acharya Shunya ji's Personal Reflections;
Growing up in Rāma’s city, Ayodhya, the Rāmāyaṇa was everything to me—it was my bedtime story, my walk-to-school story, my Dussehra and Diwali story, and the ideal to my soul’s evolution story. God Rāma inspired me, God Hanumāna made me fearless and joyful at the same time, and as for Goddess Sita—I practiced being her in my own life, wise, stoic and reselient. And yet, she left me with so many questions.
In the epic Rāmāyaṇa, Sita’s journey often led me to wonder: How could she endure so much? Why was she misunderstood? These reflections carried me through a whirlwind of emotions, until I began to view her story—and the Rāmāyaṇa—from an entirely new perspective.
This is what Sita’s Gems is all about. It’s not just an audio retelling of Sita’s story—it’s a reclamation, a reimagining, and a revolution.
Some of the most significant passages featuring Sita in Vālmīki’s Rāmāyaṇa are brought to life by master storytellers and then woven together with fearless commentary by a powerful collective of renowned women wisdom leaders, including myself.
In this production, you won’t just hear the Rāmāyaṇa. You’ll hear Sita roaring back through the voices of contemporary female spiritual practitioners, leaders, and revolutionaries. Together, we’ve explored Sita’s story, unearthing its deepest truths and drawing connections that are as relevant to your life as they were to the sages of old.
Working on this project hasn’t just been a labor of love—it’s been a profound awakening. Listening to the wise women who have shaped Sitayana has shaken my understanding of the Rāmāyaṇa and redefined how I see itihāsa (history), mythology, archetypes, evolution, and the interplay of immanence and transcendence.
It’s made me realize that Sita’s roar—her quiet yet unyielding strength—lives within all of us, waiting to be unleashed.
